This week I participated in a Member Appreciation event at a beautiful local boutique fitness studio, by sharing about essential oils and implementing a holistic lifestyle. I had a lot of fun preparing for the event, especially by making a delicious treat for the studio’s members. I had a vision of creating a dark chocolate bark, topped with chopped pistachio nuts and rose petals – because, hello, colour effects! When I first opened my bottle of Cardamom essential oil, I knew I had to add it to something chocolatey.
Little did I know it would turn out THIS well. To spread the love, here is the recipe I came up with.
- 400 gram of organic, dark chocolate (I used 100 gram of 72% dark chocolate, which had some vanilla in it, and 300 gram of 85% dark chocolate)
- 250 gram chopped, salted, pistachio nuts (a mix of green and pink is beautiful and delicious!)
- 5-6 drops of doTERRA Cardamom Essential Oil
- 4-5 drops of doTERRA Lemon Essential Oil
- 2 tablespoons of raw, unprocessed, coconut oil (this makes the bar a bit more melty, fudge-like, especially when left out at room temperature)
- Rose petals for garnish
- If not using salted nuts, sprinkle some sea salt on top
Finely chop the chocolate, and place it in a glass bowl. Chop the pistachio nuts, making sure you don’t end up with a fine dust – rather, leave the nuts somewhat chunky.
Line a container with parchment paper – choose a container that is not too wide, so that you’re left with a thick bark at the end of this process!
Boil water, and add to a pot that can hold the bowl of chocolate. Slowly let the chocolate melt down, until creamy, liquid and delicious.
Add in 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil and let melt, using a whisk to integrate into the mixture. Now add 5 to 6 drops of Cardamom essential oil (only use CPTG essential oils, safe for internal use, here!) and about the same amount of Lemon essential oil.
Fold in about 3/4th of the pistachio nuts, and pour the chocolate-nut mixture into your parchment lined-container.
Carefully top with the remaining pistachio nuts and rose petals, gently press them down a bit, without having them sink into the liquid chocolate mixture
When using unsalted nuts, sprinkle some sea salt (flakes would be awesome!) on top, and place the container in the fridge or freezer for the bark to set.
Take out the bark and let it get to room temperature, for the bark to get a bit more melty and fudgy.
Break into pieces, enjoy, and spread the love by sharing it with your loved ones.
Store remaining pieces in an airtight container in your fridge, for snacky pleasures throughout the week.

About Lemon Essential Oil:
Lemon is one of our top-selling essential oils, because of its huge range of benefits and uses. Lemon is a powerful cleanser, which works great to purify surfaces and the air around us – great to use as a non-tocix cleaner in your home. It is also a beautiful cleanser for our physical systems, giving it a natural boost throughout the day.
